I always tell people you don’t need fancy equipment to take high-quality photos. The key to high-quality photos is understanding how to use your gear. This camera will be the cheapest DSLR on the market. I’ve tried other brands, but Canon seems to be the most user-friendly.

My Go-To Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8

Most brands bundle their cameras with a lens to get you started. I discovered the kit lens won’t let you get that blurry background you see in photos. You create a blurry background with lenses that have a lower f-number. The lower the f-number, the greater the effect. Lenses are expensive! A 50mm lens will be the most affordable. This lens doesn’t allow you to zoom in and out so you need alot of space to get everything in the frame.

How to Shoot Your Own Photos

When I first started shooting myself, I would set up a timer and jump in front of the camera. It’s hard to get everything in focus using a timer, so I invested in a remote. My camera doesn’t have wi-fi and Bluetooth, so you can’t use most wireless remotes. This one comes with a receiver that attaches to the camera so you can use the remote without a wire.
