I’ve finally settled in after my second round of New York fashion week. If you remember last season was a disaster. However, I learned a lot from that experience, which made this round was a lot smoother. Last season I stayed with one of my fraternity brothers, but this time I split a hotel room at Arlo Soho with a fellow menswear blogger, Denzel. Now that I’m getting back into a normal routine after a couple days off, I wanted to share what all went down during my trip.
What I Wore for NYFWM Day 1
I didn’t want to spend any money on new clothes for New York Fashion Week, but I spotted this ASOS DESIGN roll neck sweater in neon yellow. I figured fashion week would be the perfect opportunity to try something different and trendy. To tone down the sweater, I paired it with black dress pants and a twill topcoat from Express. I finished off the look with my Fila Disruptors, my go-to Urban Outfitters baseball hat, and MVMT sunglasses for a sporty vibe.
New York Men’s Day Morning Session
For the first day of New York Fashion Week, I attended both sessions of New York Men’s Day. One thing I took away is that western inspired fashion isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. I’ve still been drooling over the fur Pskaufman Chelsea boots I spotted at Krammer & Stoudt. Sperry was one of the sponsors for NYMD this year. Sperry is known for their preppy classics, but it was cool to see the shoes incorporated in these fashion presentations. I’m also super excited to try out some animal prints for Spring!

What I Wore for NYFWM Day 2
For day 2 I wanted to try something a little different. One of my favorite looks from this past fashion week was this one from Balmain’s Fall 2019 menswear collection. In this show, Oliver Rousteing mixed evening-wear with sportswear, sticking to a monochromatic color story. I took this as an opportunity to style some things I already owned. I based my look around a white ASOS Design hoodie (similar here) and Slim Black Velvet Tuxedo Jacket by Express. To complete my look, I layered with a black roll neck sweater and beret by ASOS Design.
On day 2 of New York Fashion Week: Men’s I attended the DYNE presentation. The presentation featured lots of technical sportswear which has been trending for a while now. I think I even noticed someone scanning a print on one of the jackets with her phone, but I didn’t get to find out how it worked. The key to pulling off this trend is finding interesting ways to layer which you can see below.

What I Wore for NYFWM Day 3
On Day 3 I attended a presentation by Lukhanyo Mdingi. Ironically I wore a monochromatic outfit kind of similar to the David Hart presentation. My look consisted of a fedora from Forever21, an Express turtleneck and topcoat, and my Fila Disruptors.
The Lukhanyo Mdingi presentation was by far my favorite. The presentation stroke a perfect balance of being creative and wearable. I’m still obsessing over the cream look with the oversized scarf.
